Definition
-As we know, we have seen many street artwork in our country like graffiti artwork, sculpture, stencil graffiti, sticker art, wheatpasting and street poster and street installation, art intervention, guerilla art and street installation. Many people say street art is vandalism and more to their property that we cant touch. Typically, the term street art or the more specific post-graffiti is used to distinguish contemporary public space artwork from territorial graffiti, vandalism and corporate art. Graffiti is writing or drawings that have been scribbled, scratched or spray illicitly on a wall or other surface in a public surface. In this century, the material that commonly used in making graffiti is paint,spray paint and marker pens. The word graffiti and graffito are word from Italian word graffitio (“scratched”) and it is applied in art history to work of art produced by scratching a design into a surface.
Types
of graffiti.
-There are 8 types of graffiti.
- Tag
* Tagging
is the simplest type of graffiti,
consisting of the writer’s street name in one color. Tags are basically the
graffiti writer’s signature; if they’re associated with a crew, they might also
contain the crew’s name or initials. Tags can be seen everywhere and are done
in spray paint, markers or pens. If a tag is put up over another writer’s tag
or piece, it’s extremely disrespectful.- Tag
- Throw up
* Throw up is more complicated than tag. Throw
up are usually have two color or three but not nearly elaborate as a piece.
Throw up is something that can be done fast, quickly or repeatedly, while still
identifying the writer. Most common font they is used bubble letter in one
color and different color outline.
- Stencil
* Stencil
is quickly and effective way to put something complicated is faster way. We can
get more detailed of the picture than we would be able to with just a spray
can. Stencil graffiti can be thrown up in matter of minutes .
-Sticker
* Stickers
are quick and easy way to to throw up the tag quickly. It like lazy work to
do,just take the sticker and stick at the wall. You can see them on the free
address labels you can get from th Post Office.
- Wildstyle
* Wildstyle
is particular style of writing graffiti. This style was developed and
popularized by graffiti artists like Tracy 168, Stay High 149 Zephyr in New
York City. It`s complicated and extremely stylized form of writing that, to the
untarained eye it hard to read it. Wildstyle writing features arrows, spikes,
curves and elements that non graffiti. Wildstyle pieces are often 3D and
considered to be one of the most complicated forms of graffiti.
- Piece
* A
pice is a graffiti painting. It like a short masterpiece. This is complex than
a tag and having at least three colors. Piece are hard to do illegally because
it is a good piece and will gain a lot of respect for that particular artist.
- Blockbuster
* Blockbuster
is used to cover maximum of area in
short time to make a graffiti. Often consisting of large block letters, it can
be accomplished with paint roller and two or three of color paint.
- Heaven
* A
heaven is a piece that’s put up in a very hard-to-reach location, often near or
on the tops of tall buildings or on freeway signs. Because they’re so dangerous
and difficult to reach, graffiti artists who manage to get a piece up in such a
spot will usually gain some added respect from their peers.
